In the early 1970s, Yamaha devised a way to eliminate the need for owners of a two-stroke to ride around with oil and a beaker to pre-mix their fuel. The Autolube system mixed oil with gas in the right ratio for any RPM using a third throttle cable. More twist, more oil. Brilliant. All you had to do was keep both oil and gas tanks topped up. Well on this particular RD, the system was disconnected. Not sure why, but I decided to return it to service. Removed and cleaned the oil tank, and discovered a busted throttle cable. Also discovered that the tank had the wrong cap. Strange......back to seeking parts.
