1965 BMW R50/2

Bookends Part II

Classic Velocity

The day began with Bookends Part I. This was followed by another great Gathering at Washington Crossing State Park. During the afternoon, I removed the "silent block" seat suspension for some R&R. Then, towards the close of the day, I decided to take the next concentric circle ride on the R50. The oil was changed, the floats were adjusted, and the seat was back on the bike. I chose a route that took me around northern bucks county to Knecht's covered bridge, and a natural photo op. I now have a new favorite picture of a vintage BMW. This bike likes a leisurely pace and feels fast above 40 mph. Slow country roads were in order. The bike ran well for the 25 mile round trip including an extended stint at north of 50 MPH. Quite a contrast to the BCR (!), but no less enjoyable...
